Upcoming Musical Performances, Films Happening in Fort McMurray And More!
If you're unaware of the Neil Young and Daryl Hannah movie from the oilsands, that's okay. It wasn't that big of a deal, but another film called Left for Dead: The Legend of Wild Bill was at the Cineplex competition this year and many found it to be absolutely hilarious. It was filmed by three young men in Fort McMurray and will make its way to the Edmonton International Film Festival this year.
About a month from now the Radical Reels event will happen, which is perfect for the adrenaline junkie. It's going to happen on October 3rd at 7:30pm at the Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets are on sale now.
Another event worth mentioning is the City Centre Half Marathon. It happens in just a few weeks and you can run or walk in the marathon. Expect road closures downtown during this event. The half marathon will be followed by the Sloan concert and the weekend will be started with the Our Lady Peace concert. Both will be at MacDonald Island.
Football in the Fort
With Fort McMurray Football opening, residents are buzzing. From grade 4 and up, many kids are taking the field on Friday nights. Both Junior High and High School teams are kicking off, as well. You can get more information about football in the Fort at fortmcmurrayfootball.com.
A new Irish Pub will be opening in Eagle Ridge very soon. This place is set to be open around Halloween and will provide all types of great dishes, drinks and entertainment.
Finally, the farmer's market in downtown will be held again because of the success of the last one. It will provide residents with the opportunity to pick up fresh produce and so much more.
These are just a few of the things happening around Fort McMurray. The fall is the season for all types of great events from fancy fundraisers to marathons and more. Soon the Festival of Trees will be on the agenda and rumors of an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party in the works are circulating, as well.
