Introducing the Syncrude WinterPlay Festival in Wood Buffalo
In February, the Syncrude WinterPlay festival will take over the Wood Buffalo area. This is one of the most popular events held here all year long. With plenty of fun for adults and kids, its one event everybody should experience.
Events
Throughout the ten-day festival, many different events will be held including:
- Lover's Fireworks Opening Ceremony
- Sno-Pitch Tournament
- Family Ski & Tube Day
- Cross Country Skiing Family Day
- winterGYMBOREE
- Shootout on the Snye
- winterPLAYGROUND
- Ice Sculpture & Snow Carving
- Snowdown on the Snye
- IceMazing
- Family Film Day
- winterCABARET
- And Much More!
Many acts will also be taking the stage, but names have yet to be released. Last year featured some of the top local, regional, national and world-wide artists performing on stage.
These events attracted over 18,000 people last year and the festival expects to attract just as many, if not more this year.
Venues
The different events that make up the WinterPlay Festival are found all throughout the area. Some of the venues expected to host events include

The dates, times and other details have yet to be released for the 2014 event, but they should be available soon.
Tickets
Tickets are provided on an event basis. Some events are free, while others do require a ticket. Soon, tickets will be available at the Keyano Box Office during the week or for purchase online.
