Fort McMurray's Place for Play - MacDonald Island Park

Whether you love golf, curling, swimming or just want to enjoy the best fitness center in Fort McMurray, MacDonald Island Park is the place for you. This is a massive recreational centre including a social centre, leisure centre, golf course and more. It's known as the largest community centre in all of Canada and will soon be expanded to include Shell Place.

The Shell Place Expansion

With this expansion, MacDonald Island Park will grow to an even larger facility adding all of the following:

  • Tournament Centre
  • Skywalk to Leisure Centre
  • Interpretive Trails
  • Badminton Centre
  • Restaurant
  • Community Pavilion
  • Turf Field House
  • And More!

This expansion will also add space to the fitness and golf areas, along with the potential of a rowing centre and Marina.

As the largest facility of its kind in the entire country, this indoor and outdoor center includes:

This massive facility gives residents of Fort McMurray the opportunity to enjoy many indoor and outdoor sports year-round. Whether you want to enjoy the fitness centre, aquatic centre or golf course, you can gain full access with the Mi Play Pass membership on a monthly or yearly basis. Along with the membership, daily rates are available and punch cards for ten uses are also available. Rates vary depending on the membership you choose and the access you need.

Hours vary depending on the day of the week and the portion of the facility you want to use. The leisure centre is open Monday through Friday from 5am to 11pm and on weekends from 7am to 10pm. The aquatic centre is open Monday through Friday from 6am to 9:30pm and on weekends from 7am to 9:30pm.
