Are there Any Popular Local Artists in the Wood Buffalo Area?

Artistic skills flourish in the Wood Buffalo area. Wood Buffalo is a community that continues to grow with every passing year. As it grows, it continues to attract more and more aspiring artists. This is just a taste of the creative and artistic people you can find in this community.

Megan Green

Megan was born in St. Johns, but raised in Fort McMurray. Fort McMurray provides an interesting environment for a child to grow up in. Megan acquired a two year diploma studying visual design and art at Keyano College in 2009. In 2011, she received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta. Megan is preparing to continue studying fine arts to receive a Masters diploma.

Uzma Nadeem

Uzma migrated to Canada after acquiring a Masters in Fine Arts. It was in December of 2009 that her painting career began. Travelling and personal experiences inspire her abstract and symbolic painting style. Uzma has a short term goal of becoming a local professional artist in Fort McMurray.

Liana Wheeldon

Liana majored in Fine Art Printmaking at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design. After she received her degree, she continued her studies by focusing on other mediums including mixed media and painting. Her work is featured in both group and solo art exhibits in New York, British Columbia, and Fort McMurray.

Lisa Carlson

Lisa was born in a small town in New Zealand, but she is a Canadian citizen now. She spent the last decade of her life working and living in Alberta. It was not until she moved to Fort McMurray just four years ago that she took up a serious interest in art. Lisa has been pleasantly surprised with how supporting the Fort McMurray community is of local artists.
