ThermostatWhen Alberta residences were surveyed, it was found that almost half of residences want to be the person in their home that is in charge of the thermostat. The reason for this is that they are concerned about Energy costs. It is the most common argument in homes, after cleaning the toilets and having control of the TV remote control.

The Direct Energy survey has been studying this hot subject in Alberta right now, and says that if Albertans set their thermostat below 25 degrees that it will cost them more when their bill arrives. Surveys are also showing that most homeowners believe that personal comfort in the home is more important than saving a few dollars every month. Some say that their children affect the temperature decision and some even notice

After about two years of engagement sessions and proposals, the RRC or the Regional Recreation Corporation has been given the okay to over forward with plans for the Northside Recreation Centre. This centre will be ab Abrams Land and has been in the planning stages for quite some time now.

It took 30 in-person sessions and over 9,500 participation responses to get here, but the area of Fort McMurray may see a new recreation centre in the near future. It will be near the Thickwood and Timberlea neighbourhoods and will provide plenty of activities.

After surveying residents, the city found that the most needed amenities included:

BBQThe summer may not last forever in Fort McMurray, but residents can still make the most of it. The beginning of the summer saw the Summer Kick Off BBQ come to the area, so it's only fitting that the end of the summer would include an End of the Summer BBQ.

Whether you prefer a hamburger, hot dogs, a good steak or even a kabob, the BBQ will provide you with exactly what you need. Over 300 burgers were served at the Summer Kick off BBQ and due to this success, the city is holding another BBQ to end the summer off right. The staff of Fort McMurray Tourism will provide the BBQ.

What can you Expect at the BBQ?

Those looking for the opportunity to mingle and socialize, will get just what they need at the BBQ. Of course, there will be plenty of food

Wood Buffalo Brewing Company was founded in 2013 with a simple mission: to provide great beer and good food.  It would seem they have succeeded on both counts.  Wood Buffalo was founded by men with a great appreciation of beer.  They use only the finest hops and malt combined with their own strands of cultured yeast to produce fabulous local beers on site.  Lucky customers can even get a tour of the mini-brewery during their visit.

While many people love craft beer, not everyone is that adventurous.  The pub offers more of the traditional and mainstream beers along with different cocktails from the bar.  There is something for everyone.

The menu is pretty impressive too making this a great place.  It offers more than just traditional pub fare.

When you arrive there are many things you can do.  During the colder seasons you can watch the bison frolicking in the snow, and then join in the fun yourself, albeit, not at the same location.  You can create your own trail on skis or snowshoes, or you could skate across a frozen lake.

The park has three rivers running through it that are

It took three years and $258 million but the new Fort McMurray International Airport terminal is finally open for business. As of June 9, 2014 passengers can now use the terminal to go to and from their travel destinations. According to airport and government officials this new addition is a very important part of the municipality of Wood Buffalo.

That's because Wood Buffalo has seen their air passenger traffic jump by as much as 75 percent in the last few years. That's 72 percent more than the average annual increase seen at North American airports.

Fort McMurray is one of the fastest growing municipalities in North America. That's why adding this new terminal was so important. They needed to make sure their infrastructure could handle the
