This event will have a variety of vendors for you to enjoy. Begins July 1 at 11:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. Takes place on 151 Mac Donald Drive.

Canada Day Pancake Breakfast

Celebrate Canada’s birthday by joining the RMWB for a free pancake breakfast. Follow up breakfast by watching the Canada Day Parade. Breakfast will be served on July 1 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Moving to a new place is never an easy thing. After all, you are leaving what you are familiar with to live in a place you are completely unfamiliar with. It can be downright scary. However, it doesn't have to be. Here are a few tips to help you settle in and feel right at home in Wood Buffalo.

Locate Emergency Resources

When you are in a new place you don't know where anything is. That's why the first tip I am giving you is to locate emergency resources. Find out where the closest hospital is as well as any emergency numbers you may need to know. Write down the numbers and addresses of the local police, bylaw and any healthcare centre that's close by. Make sure you put this information in a place you will easily remember.

Megan Green

Megan was born in St. Johns, but raised in Fort McMurray. Fort McMurray provides an interesting environment for a child to grow up in. Megan acquired a two year diploma studying visual design and art at Keyano College in 2009. In 2011, she received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta. Megan is preparing to continue studying fine arts to receive a Masters diploma.

Many are predicting a huge increase in these types of jobs over the next decade. Some even believe a 35% increase is possible.

Most of the jobs in this industry that will become available include:

  • Petroleum Engineers
  • Power Engineers
  • Heavy Equipment Operators
  • And Others!

Many of the workers are expected to retire in the near future, which could put a strain on the labour force of this area. However, more jobs usually means more growth.

2nd Annual Women of Inspiration Celebration - June 14th

This event will be held at the Sawridge Inn found in Fort McMurray. It will include dinner and plenty of guest speakers. This is the second holding of this special event and the cost is $75 per person or $700 for a table.

FMFD Pancake Breakfast and Open House - June 14th

The Fort McMurray Fire Department will hold a Pancake Breakfast and Open House from 9am to 12pm on Saturday, June 14th. This even will be held at the Fire Hall fond at 2 Tolen
